Archive imported Eudora emails

Hello,

I'm trying to manually Archive older emails, many of which were imported six
months ago from Eudora. I went through the process of importing them into
Outlook Express, exporting from there, then importing to Outlook 2003. The
PST file has gotten too large and I'm moving to a new machine. Can't seem to
Archive these emails. No filters set. Date set to earlier than six months.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Mark

Is there a question or issue involved then in your post?
There is no need to post in a telegram style. Be as descriptive as possible
when describing your issue and state a clear question.

After importing to OE you state 'exporting from there, then importing to
Outlook 2003'
That is contradictory, you only export msgs from OE to OL, there is no
import requirement.

If you imported in OL, then all your msgs will have a modified date of that
import date, and archive works on modified date.

Robert,

I'm not sure what you mean "telegram" style. The board seems to have been
having difficulties this afternoon (my time). Did that change the format how
you received the messages?

To be descriptive about the problem... I used both Outlook 2003 and Eudora
for different email accounts. I decided to discontinue use of Eudora. I got
the messages into Outlook 2003. Now, I want to archive older messages (some
Eudora, some native to Outlook 2003). I set up manual Archive to a file. I
set it up to Archive ALL messages before 01/01/2008. This process creates a
PST file that ends up being 174 MB. (as per previous post that you also
responded to, the PST file before trying to archive anything was 2.3 GB) Most
of the emails I still have are from before the Archive date. After the
archive, there are still many (most) of the emails remaining. They have not
been Archived. I checked the Archive file and the folders are either empty or
have only a few of the emails archived.

There are KB articles about Archiving Imported emails, but I didn't find
them that clear. Is this a more clear description of the problem?

Thanks,
Mark

I was referring to that you had a nice introduction in your OP but started
to use very short sentences when describing the issue omitting the necessary
details. Your re-post is indeed much clearer :-)

However, as DL mentioned as well, archiving works on the modified date of
the message and not on the received date. When you imported the messages
into Outlook (or exported from OE), the modified date got changed to the
date/time of the import. Basically you have 2 options now; move (most of)
the messages manually to clean up your pst-file or wait till the messages
age by themselves and get moved when the modified date reaches the age set
in AutoArchive.
