Archive Folders did not close properly

Every time I start Outlook I get the message "the data file archive folders
did not close properly last time". Most annoying to sit and watch that. I
switch off my PC as I have always done through the start button but since
upgrading to Office 2007 I get this message. I don't remember having any
Archive Folders in 2003 and any way i have never used them nor ever likely
to. Can i disable/delete these folders without too much damage to Outlook? If
so how?
Thanks

You have an archive folder linked it Outlook or otherwise configured Outlook
to AutoArchive.
Use File-> Data File Management to find your currently linked folders.
Use Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> button AutoArchive to find out it you have
AutoArchive enabled.

However, it's very likely that you have an Outlook shutdown issue. The fact
that you didn't have this notification with Outlook 2003 is because it
doesn't check for it in the way that Outlook 2007 does so you might have had
this issue for a lot longer already.

Thanks for that Robert. I have looked int Data Mangement as you suggested and
I have two files there One under Personal Folders and One under Archive
Folders. Whilst I was there I noticed that the next tab was RSS Feeds and
that reminded me of a box that opened when i opened Outlook asking me if I
wanted to align my RSS with other programs such as IE. As I did not
understand what that meant I clicked on NO and that is when my shut down
problems started........ maybe? I have looked at the site you mentioned and
so far nothing springs out at me but I will read it again slowly and see if
this grey head understands it any better this time. Thanks again for you
help. What about the RSS?

I forgot to say that yes I have autoarchive ticked. If I uncheck this will it
shut down quicker. I do not use the archive folders at all?

AutoArchive runs while you're running Outlook and it is time to AutoArchive.
This is usually quite a quick process (depending on certain settings of
course) and it would be a coincidence that it were always to run right when
you exit Outlook. It's unlikely for this to be the cause of your issue.

The RSS syncing occurs during the send/receive process.
You can enable/disable its integration with the common feeds list via;
Tools-> Options-> tab Other-> button Advanced Options...
