each time i open outlook 2007 i get a message which says a file didn't
properly close last time and is being checked for a problem. this is
archive1. i can't delete it in explorer even when outlook is closed and i
can't make the message go away when i rearchive. i have tried repairing
office 2007 but that doesn't help.
hope some can assist me.

Sounds like something is keeping Outlook open. See if anything here helps:
