Apologies if this has been addressed, but a search didn't turn up
anything.

Outlook 2003. Is there a way to save older messages, i.e., archive
them, without actually deleting them out of outlook? Unless I'm
mistaken, archiving moves the designated messages to the selected
archive pst file, right? But what if you want to do this to save them
offsite, for example, yet keep the messages handy for easy reference?
Is this doable? I'm thinking probably not, but hoping

TIA

Hmm, I'm sorry if I wasn't clear. May I assume that you mean this is
just a way to OPEN the pst file to look at messages?? I was hoping to
find out if there was a way to keep the messages in their various
original inbox/personal folders, as well as in a PST, because unless
I'm mistaken, the archive process would have removed them from those
original inbox/personal folders, right?

I'll play around with this tho, because it may work for our purposes.
Thanks!

you can either manually copy the messages you want 'archived' to a pst or
just copy the pst to the backup site and backup the entire pst. The problem
you'll run into when you copy is that you'll have a lot of duplicates unless
you mark them in some manner... all of which takes time. I suppose if you
move them to an 'archived' subfolder after copying them it might help...
