I received an MS broadcast email with an attachment
(pack5251.exe)to resolve various security issues. However,
when going to the MS site I was unable to locate this
download. The lastest listed was March which makes me
suspicious that this may be a hoax. Can anyone confirm
that it's legit & OK to download from the attachment?( vs
MS's download site.
Thanks, Nick.

Microsoft never ever sends out email with any updates, patches, hotfixes or
service packs. What you received was a virus payload spoofing coming from
Microsoft.

Microsoft does not send out emails with attachments. All updates are
listed at windowsupdate and that is the only site you should use for
Windows patches. (Get office patches from Office.microsoft.com.)
