AppSec/Microsoft JVM

I'm starting with termserv.apps since that forum deals with appsec and
with java.vm since that forum deals with the MS jvm; if I should be
somewhere else let me know.

I have a java application that runs under the MS jvm. I also have
appsec running on w2k pro (a shared computer; appsec runs just fine on
it and does what it needs to). The app has been stable for a long time
(guessing about two years), and is stable on many other computers that
do not have appsec. Appsec was recently installed. Shortly after
installation, I started getting ComFailExceptions in this app. Stack
trace shows it came off INativeImage. They appear randomly and in
different parts of the app. Googling for this says it's a programming
bug. Talked to vendor, they say it isn't. I'm inclined to believe them
since it doesn't happen on other machines, but can't figure out why it
would be crashing on this one. One other difference is that this
machine has directx 9.0b and others have 8.something (machine was
wiped clean and had w2k reinstalled before appsec). Vendor says that
(directx) doesn't matter.

All ideas point to appsec, but I don't know why it would be
intefering. Traced app with filemon and procexp from sysinternals.com,
no joy. Nothing to indicate any kind of access problem or inability to
run a needed exe. Machines are fully patched. No known network
problems from our it people.

Any reason why appsec should be interfering with MS jvm? Perhaps this
isn't related to either appsec or MS jvm, but some other setting? Any
other ideas?
