I had the exact same problem.. It IS because of the APC software.. It
has to do with being incompatible with the latest version of Sun Java I
think.. Go to their site, and download the latest version. Since
uninstalling the APC software was not doable in its state nor was
stopping services, I went to the
registry...HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services. Go to
the APC service(s) and change the key 'Start' to the value from 2 (which
is auto) to 3 (which is manual) or 1 (which is disabled).. Correct me if
I am wrong anyone... I changed it to 3... Reboot.. Uninstall APC.. All
fixed. Then reinstall the new APC..
