I need to be able to create a new power point presentation with a specific
template. The template has the correct background and formatting for my
project. I am able to insert a "new slide" only once. After the first
slide, I have to reset the formatting for each slide that I add. The
background is OK.
The template seems OK, and is saved as a .pot.
I don't know what to do next.

Make sure that the template that you're using is accessed from "Design
Templates"
also...
Make sure the background and the formatting aren't just saved on the first
slide of the .pot but done in the Slide Master. Whenyou do your formatting in
Slide master view, all your new slides should maintain their formatting and
background.
