Applying a stile spreads to preceding page break. Why?

Right now, when I apply a new style to a line in my document, if there is a
page break before it, the style is applied to the last line of the preceding
page, that is, to the page break itself. How can I avoid this?

The best way is to avoid manual page breaks and instead format the
paragraph with "Page break before". You'll find this option on the
Line and Page Breaks tab of Format>Paragraph. Of course, if a certain
style should always be preceded by a page break, you can add the
option to the style definition.
