Applying ICS gives error 2 - file missing....

I have worked with ICS for years on several setups. But
this one I can't fix - anyone out there that can?

- Have created a dialup connection that uses ISDN
- In the properties of the TCP/IP on the advanced tab, I
enable ICS and press apply. After a few seconds I receive
(something like) this message: "Cannot enable shared
access. Error 2: The system cannot find the file
specified."
- There is no entry in the Event log
- It used to work in this setup - but now I get this error

Any ideas?

We don't know exactly what causes this error. The only advice I have is to
make sure the private side adapter is enabled and has an IP address before
enabling ICS.

An idea:

The user told me, that about the same time ICS stopped
working the user installed ad-aware 6.0. Could it be,
that it quarantined the file that is missing?

If the error message is correct; Does anyone know witch
files are needed for ICS?

Well I wouldn't put anything past adaware. I doubt the error message really
applies to a physical file, error 2 often means "something" not found.

Does "ipconfig /renew" work correctly?

No, "ipconfig /renew" does not work. Does this help?

Another possible reason is, that the user also used the
Microsoft program Bootvis v1.0.0.1 about the same...

Does ipconfig /renew also give error 2?

Run "winmsd" and go to Components/Network/Protocol. Do you see entries for
the following:

MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]
MSAFD Tcpip [UDP/IP]
MSAFD Tcpip [RAW/IP]

I am having a similar problem - except I can't seem to add
protocols/services/clients without getting that error. When running winmsd,
I show NOTHING under Protocol, Adapter or WinSock, even though the entire
networking subsystem was running just fine two days ago. I've searched the
web and tried all the tricks and tips I could find and I'm still right at
the same place. Very frustrating.

1) ipconfig /renew gives a reply like this: "Did not
succede since not networkcard is in a valid mode for the
selected action" (translated for Danish, might be
different in English)

2) Not quite, I got these:
MSAFD Irda [IrDA]
MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]
MSAFD Tcpip [UDP/IP]

As you can see, there is no RAW/IP.
