After user name and password are provided at the log on screen a window pops
up telling containing the following info: "Applying computer settings"
This process can take several minutes!

I have disabled all programs at startup and I have even tried to create a
new profile but nothing seems to affect the extremely long boot up process.
Once up and running however the computer is reasonably fast. I'm running WXP
with SP2 and all the patches.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Adde

Try running Disk Defragmenter. Start-All Programs-Acessories-System
Tools-Disk Defragmenter.

Thanks for the advise, however a defrag has been performed recently without
making any difference... Other suggestions?

Thanks,

have you found out any other idea's on this? Or have you found a solution?
I am having this exact same issue. I hear DNS, profile, but nothing seems to
help. Out of 50 computers I have 22 doing it. Nothing on the machines are
the same that would make me think that it is an application. Any help would
be great. Thanks.
