"Apply to all folder" view doesn't work much better in XP than in Win2K, how to fix?

This is my biggest, biggest issue with both Explorers in WinXP and 2K.
When I would set all folder to details view in Win98SE after adjusting
columns, etc., they'd STAY and stay permanently.

Win2K no matter which machine I was on on my contracts, or at home,
hardly ever worked properly despite setting the folder view to what I
wanted and unticking "Remember each folder's view settings". Becuase
of the multiple contracts I have in any given year, I know this is a
fault with Win2K otherwise it wouldn't be a problem no matter where I
was sent to work.

WinXP seems to last a little bit longer at my chosen setting but,
eventually, reverts back to the factory default of large icons. I'm
really fed up with this. I make full use of LFNs and often
differentiate files with the date at the end. Since I format the date
in yyyy.mm.dd, the files are all chronological but I make best and
most efficient use of LFNs and file saving in details view.

Is there a registry fix or other that _once_ and for _all_ completely
fixes this, pls? I do so hope so because it's the single most
frequent thing I have to stop and see to. It's very annoying.

Thanks much. I really appreciate any help with this in advance.
Cheers. D

Isn't there a way to fix this, pls?

At work, I've replaced Explorer with a freeware Explorer replacement
that I'm very happy with. So end of frustrations with Win2K's
Explorer.

However, I have a lot of shell extensions that I rely heavily upon
here at home and, naturally enough, work best with Explorer so
absolutely _must_ find a solution to this in XP!

Thanks.

Well, this one is still not much better. About every fourth or fifth
time I open up an Explorer window, I have to change the view. Thank
goodness it's not every single time like in Win2K, but this is going
to get just as old, just as fast.

Can someone _please_ tell me a registry fix for this????? At work I
wouldn't be able to do anything because they lock up the registry.
But at home that wouldn't be a problem with my WinXP.

Pls and thanks.
