I have been having a problem with a processing error that shows up on start
up and in the event viewer. It appears to be a missing or bad driver. I
have attached the message below. The related XP solutions don't seem to
apply.

More bothersome is a system lockup when playing videos through windows media
reader in particular *.wmv files. I can read u-tube movies with no problem
but, I also have lockups playing a game of "Witcher" after 10-20 minutes.

Any help with these problems would be appreciated. I have a 1gb pc with
nvidia 6800xt 256mb PCI express video card.

There is quite a few Even ID 26 related issues. If you can nail the exact issue then
maybe there would be a MS KB for it. Post back

Sorry about the double message. Looking through the messages I haven't seen
a good parallel, but I'll keep looking.

I have the same error message with the exact parameters. It only happens on
Windows startup. This message pops up between 4 and 15 times, and I always
click the "cancel" button.
One post elsewhere suggested it may be caused by Quicktime or iTunes. I
don't have iTunes on my computer, and I make sure Quicktime is not in the
startup list. So, they are not what may be causing the message.
I have noticed that if I put a floppy in my A drive as soon as Windows
starts to load (initial splash screen), I generally don't get the messages.
However, this is not consistent. When it does prevent the messages, the next
few times I load Windows, the message does not pop up. But after a few times,
it's back again.
This posting is the only one I've found that addresses the message at
Windows startup.
Any suggestions on how to trace down the cause?
