Hi, I have a prob which is really getting on to my system...

A few days ago suddenly I could not burn any cds anymore on my CD-RW. Since
it was a few years ago I re-installed my o/s, thought a clean-install
couldn't hurt. After re-install everything worked fine again untill today,
this info is all i could find!

I have a Windows XP pro EN SP2
System log:
Source: CDRom
Event: 7
Descr: The device, \Device\CdRom1, has a bad block.

Application log when trying to burn mediafile:
Source: Application Hang
Event: 1002
Descr: Hanging application BlazeDVD.exe, version 4.0.0.1, hang module
hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.
....followed by
Source: Application Hang
Event: 1001
Descr: Fault bucket 204988175.

If I am not mistaken this happened after a few updates this morning:
900485, 929399, 920872
last 2 of them are related to Windows-media, I de-installed them but that
didnt have any effect. Hope someone can help me on this one^^

Thanks in advance
greetings
Edwin

Hi Edwin,
Restore to before the updates took place, I think there is a conflict
between your CD Burner and the Windows Media 11, so rollingback to windows10
sometimes can cure the issue.
Or try to get the latest driver for your DVD burner or decoder software.

Hi Nass, thanks for your reply

I tried getting a driver update on my cdrw LG CD-RW CED-8120B, not that easy
to find! In my device manager in the cddrive properties digital writing is
enabled. I updated my nero 6 to the reloaded version. Didnt help either.

Strage thing is that it used to work under exactly the same curcomstances!
it worked this morning when burning a cdrom, I can even view the cds with
rsvcd format in my windvd 2000, but when I boot nero 6 and try to load a
media file for burning the application hangs, in the past it worked fine with
the same configuration. I'm really thinking more and more its because of 1 of
those 3 updates this morning!

greetings
Edwin

I do agree with you, but try system Restore and see if that will help.

Update for Windows Media Format 11 SDK for Windows XP (KB929399)

Install this audio component update to prevent memory corruption issues
Update for Windows XP (KB920872)
Does these the updates?.

yeah that's the one, I made the system recovery and now it stops hanging.
What I recieves now is that he states he has to convert the files to svcd
compliant first to be able tu burn it. Allthough I have MPEG2 codecs
installed! He plays them in all my players as he should also, just don't let
me write them to cd anymore.

what a weekend!
