Describe your Dell, please: CPU, size of hard drive (and free space),
RAM, etc.

Is it only one program that has issues? If so, what is it? And be sure
to give us the complete text of any error messages as well as any other
observable behavior out of the ordinary.

Do you perform regular maintenance on your PC?

CPU 3.0 GHZ, 1 GB RAM, 75 GB hard drive 25 GB free. It seems to only be
affecting wordperfect documents. In addition, every time I open a document
the local disk window opens too. Another issue is Shaw Cable F-Secure. It's
giving me a spam control malfunction message, but after the tech took me
through re-installation the message re-appeared. Don't know if these are
related or not... I just need a functioning PC to get my work done by
deadline. HELP!!

Thanks for the information, but you didn't answer all the questions!

First of all, this probably isn't the best place to ask your question
since it appears to be a WordPerferct issue rather than a Windows XP
issue. Still, if you post here, I and others will do our best to help
you. But you might have better luck posting to one or both of the
following newsgroups:

comp.groupware.groupwise
corel.wpoffice.wordperfect10

Also, here's a Web forum:
http://www.wpuniverse.com/vb/

I'm not sure your F-Secure is the culprit or not. For now, I would work
on the WordPerfect issue first.

You still need to post the complete text of your error message(s). The
more information you provide, the quicker you will get your problem
resolved.

And you need to describe how you maintain your PC. It's important to
delete temp files and defrag. It's important to ensure you are free of
viruses, spyware, etc. It's a good idea to take control of all your
programs/processes running in the background. Here is an excellent
resource:

www3.telus.net/dandemar/slowcom.htm

Are you able to repair WordPerfect? If not, uninstalling and
reinstalling may help.

You stated you have a deadline! You may want to download and install a
free word processing program called AbiWord 2.4.6 and use for the time
being. It can handle Word and WordPerfect documents:

http://www.abisource.com/download/

Until you fix your WordPerfect issue, AbiWord may get you through.

Good luck!
