hi all! i would just like to ask if anyone knows how to solve my
problem.....

i set windows defender to always show it's icon in the system tray....but
everytime i boot up, since i upgraded WD from the Beta yesterday.... the
icon is always missing....the first time it happened....the message as my
subject indicates appears....but later on even that message doesn't appear
anymore....when i look in the task manager MSASCui.exe is there, with 2656K
of mem. usage but zero cpu usage....so what i do is kill MSASCui.exe, then
open WD, after that the icon will appear....

thanks in advance to anyone who will reply!

Hello mae,

Any clues in the System events log you can see?

See if this can help

Good luck

That error code in general indicates a permissions problem. Is there a WD
checkpoint code associated with it? Lacking that, you might check your
security permissions on the MSASCui.exe itself. Mine are set for Full
Control as an Admin and for SYSTEM as well. My permissions are inherited
from C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\ while SYSTEM is not an inherited
permission.

hi Engel and Dave!

thank's for your replies!
i've solved the problem by deleting the entry for windows defender in the
scheduled tasks in the control panel....
