When trying to do a Save As for a page in FP 2000 I get:

FrontPg.exe has created and error and will be closed by
Windows. A log is being generated.

Dr. Watson shows:

Application exception occurred:
App: (pid=2248)
When: 11/4/2003 @ 07:56:14.827
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

Of course I can find nothing in the MS KB (as usual) based
on any part of the error message.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks, John

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office

I have tried the first 2 things including removing and
reinstalling FP. My OS and IE should be up to date, I'll
recheck that. This seems to have happened after I
installed the FP Server extentions, albeit from the
original Win2000 CD which is four SP's old. Then I
uninstalled them and reinstalled them from a Win2K SP3 OEM
CD.

OK, I'll give that a shot. I did the following:

- Deleted all .tmp files that I could find.
- Within the FP shell I deleted the temp files from the
Tools option.
- Deleted all .web files.
- Office SP3 is installed so the Update Site refused to
reinstall it.
- I uninstalled and reinstalled IE 6SP1 (what a pain in
the a.. it seems that applied Win2k SPs remove the
Repair/Uninstall option from Add/Remove Programs. Had to
do a special uninstall from within \pro..
files\i..e..\uninstall etc.)
- I have no FP add-ins
- Found and deleted CMDUI.PRF

I will try your link.

Thanks for you help.
John..

OK now I have version xxx of the FP Extentions. I am
still getting the same problem. Should I consdier
Uninstalling FP2000 again, this time removing the
directories and registry entries?
