This morning at 8:30 AM I got the following error in my event log:

Faulting application nvsvc32.exe, version 6.14.10.8429, faulting module
nvcpl.dll, version 6.14.10.8429, fault address 0x000b6bd9.

My screen went black. I rebooted and immediately saw video rendering issues
even when the bios was loading. There were blue dashed lines all over the
screen. The screen then went black again just after the windows loading
screen (prior to getting the login prompt). Now I am only able to get into
windows through Safe Mode and VGA mode and when I do get in I still see
dashed lines everywhere. I have tried re-installing the video driver from
nVidia and the latest bios from Dell but neither changed anything. In VGA
mode everything works if the screen is at 640x480 and the color mode is low
res. If I change it the screen goes black. Does anyone have any clues? I
have heard that nvsvc.exe can be a target for malware...any chance malware is
the problem??? Dell tech support is coming to replace my HDD, motherboard,
etc. and I'd prefer not to rebuild my machine if I can avoid it!

Thanks for any help!
Steve
