Application dropdown menus are not displayed correctly

A few days ago, it seems I pressed a bad key combination that resulted in
reversing the way menus are displayed in Windows applications. Normally, the
menus are aligned to the menu entry. For example when opening menu "File",
the commands "open" "save" are left-aligned with the word "File". In my case,
the commands are now aligned with the right border of the word "File".
Any help with this will be appreciated. I guess it is "just" a registry
tweak, but I have no idea where it has to be done.
Thanks.

Open the Tablet PC Settings applet located in the Control Panel
and click on the General tab. Place a dot next to "Left-handed"
and click Apply.
