Application Dies in One Minute

The app appears with a frame, menus, buttons at the top, and then in about
one minute disappears. How do I get it back on its feet?

I had some problems with my machine this morning. WinXP. Power cord loose,
and possibly some internal power plugs. I went up and down about 3-4 times
before I squared away loose plugs and maybe boards.

It would go down and issue a reboot problem. Sometimes it would just reboot
and come back with the login prompt, then crash later. The last time it did
it, I tightened up plugs, and boards. It's been stable for two hours. I had
enough time to back up some photo, word, and other files I've created in the
last 2 months. It gave me a couple of severe warnings. I took pix. I'll
bring two of them up on my camera LCD and give a short description. Here:

1. A process thread or critical operation has been shutdown to prevent
damage to your computer.
....
Beginning dump of physical memory.

2. ...
Primary slave drive fails
Press F1 to continue.
....
I rebooted at this point after tightening up connections.

Perhaps System Restore will save my bacon. Maybe I don't have SR points.
I've never really used it. System Properties shows I do not have the "Turn
off SR to all drives" box checked.

Possibly I can use Add/Remove, and they app's repair, providing there is one?

You haven't said what the "app" is, How are we supposed to know?

How many floors up and down did you go in the elevator?

I guess your slave drive is failing.

Maybe you can restore from one of your backup images; providing there is one.

Seriously, your post is unintelligible. You need to have someone whom knows
English translate into something we can understand.

Try this.

Obviously something is wrong. I'm guessing something got corrupted. Given
the app is Thunderbrid, how do I get it safely back on its feet given there
is a large amount of data involved, mail, etc.

How's that?

Try reinstalling over the top of the existing program.

Are you still getting a notice about a failed slave drive? If so, you will
have to look at what drive is slaved (probably a CDR, DVD, etc.) and check
it out.

The date and time was Saturday, August 22, 2009 7:14:41 PM , and on a
whim, W. eWatson pounded out on the keyboard:

I explained what you should do in the TB group. You're not getting any
better assistance here.

A security update was release Aug20,2009. On my machine, the notification
appeared, saying on the next exit from the application, the downloaded
security update would install. It seemed to go OK here. The current
version is 2.0.0.23.

Perhaps you could download the full application and install again.
Being careful to back up your profile with emails or whatever, just
in case.

As I said, the system is stable. That is, it is working as it should. The
only thing that's not working is Tbird.

You are correct on that point. I would have expected better here than I've
seen. I guess it's just one of those Saturday night things.
