Under my username in Documents and Settings resides about 2 gigs of
application data, can it be deleted, saved and what effects will it have if
it were to be removed to gain back space?

Delete it and a good deal of your apps will no longer function

DON'T delete it, this will cause some serious problems with just about
all of the programs you use! 2GB seems awfully large though. Are you
sure you are reading it correctly? Could it be 2MB?

Don't even think about deleting it.
The Application Data folder is where applications save information.

If you really want to gain some disk space, download CCleaner and learn how
to use it. There is no spyware in CCleaner.

Delete your restore points, and create a new system restore point.
