Hi,
There are a few old pieces of software that I would like to run across my
network clients that say they need 256 colours when I try to start them. This
is no problem on my XP machines as I can use the compatibility wizard.
I thought I had found the answer for my 2000 clients today when I downloaded
the compatibility administration tool v3.0. I installed it to a 2000 machine
but couldn't find the right compatibility fix. I tried the forcedisplaymode
fix but couldn't get the command line part to work and the force 640x480x8
and 640x480x16 change the screen size too, which I don't want.
Looking on the support sites, there should be a 256colour compatibility mode
and a force8bitcolour fix also, but they are not in my lists. I then
installed it on an XP client and found that all of the fixes and modes I need
are there.
I presume therefore that the modes and fixes you can apply are built in to
the operating system and not the compatibility administrator software. I
there a way to import the relavent files from an xp machine? If not, does
anyone know how to get this to work on a 2000 client? Or has the program not
installed properly to the 2000 client or needs a windows update adding?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark
