Applets/Java suddenly not viewable???

Hi,

Although all my website with java applets are working OK
on the net, I cannot make the applets viewable [onlt box
with icon in it viewable]or work with Explorer or FPage
previews???

I know they are OK on the net when published, by checking
them with Nescape.

I have reinstalled FP 2002 & Internet Explorer with not
effect. Also checked that Explorer has Java etc turned on.

It is a MS problem somewhere - but what have I done???

Should I reinstalled Windows ME to rectify settings???

Any ideas guys.

Thanks,
Steve

If you have installed Windows XP or upgraded to IE 6, then you no longer have the MS JVM, as MS no
longer distributes it.

Also many users of Windows XP and IE 6 also do not have the ability to view Java Applets, so you
should consider switching JavaScript or another technology.

Thanks Thomas,

Yes, I just installed IE6

Why has MS done this when they themselves provide hover
buttons in FP202. Does not make sence that now all my
websites won't work for visitors with IE6??????

Does FP 2003 still use hover buttons or does it have the
new technology?

Also while I still use FP2002, what technology can I use
which is user friendly to replace all the hover buttons on
my sites.

Thank you again for your help.

Steve
PS can I convert back to IX5 for time being?

MS did this because of a lawsuit by Sun.

Thomas,

Does this mean that all IX6 users cannot see the sites
with MS Hover buttons?

If so what do you sufgest I replace them with?

It depends on when they got Windows XP and what Service Pack they have installed. IE6 downloads did
not include the JVM.

They can be replaced with JavaScript Mouse Overs, DHTML, etc.

check you have Java Virtual machine on (the thing that runs the applets) and also
javascript turned on in IE.
