Hi Bob,
Go to Properties of My Network Places. When this window opens, you should see your
adapters listed. In the top menu click on Advanced - Advanced Settings. Here is where you
can select your "default" Nic in the binding order. And with that highlighted, in the second
window below, select which protocol to bind first.
Thanks,
Gary

'--'OK, please help, I am beside my self. I have installed
'--'the Appletalk protocol and it wont start. The event logs
'--'have indicated that I have not choosen a default network
'--'adapter. I had an Intel based 8255 nic installed and
'--'installed a NetGear Gig card. I went as far as to disable
'--'the intel card in bios so I only have 1 nic showing on
'--'the system. I can not figure out how to make the Netgear
'--'my default card, I have looked at every setting that I
'--'can think of. Can anyone help me as I am very confused
'--'about this. I am running Windows 2000 server,SP 4. All my
'--'research has indicated that I dont have a default NIC,
'--'but none of it explains how to set a nic for default. Am
'--'I missing something here ?
