I have a shortcut in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs
The property page shows the target to be:
Apple Software Update
which is grayed.

What is "Apple Software Update"

I'd expect to find a file path.

The Start in text box is blank.

Thanks

Apple Software Update is the update module for iTune,Sarfi and
Quicktime. It is automtically installed when you install any of
these. Does noy use a that per se.

What does your last sentence mean?
What I'm wondering is, what happens when I click the short cut. What get run
and where is it? The target does not look like a file. If it is not a file
what is it?

thanks

Is the target a file path or what?

It sounds like a broken shortcut, the target should point to path & filename.

I don't have it on my machine to compare it to because I did not allow it to
get added to my startup. I run WinPatrol http://www.winpatrol.com/ that
catches programs that want to help themselves to your startup and gives you a
choice whether or not to let them, I highly recommend it.

You can check for updates to Quicktime or iTunes from within the programs
themselves so Apple Software Update is somewhat redundant and unnecessary.
