Apple print on printer networked to XP

I've got a Windows XP network with HP 5600 printer shared. Got new laptop
Apple. Can access the network, see the printer. WHen I print the file goes,
the printer properties window shows the file. It stops when about 1/2 of the
file is there (64k out of 128k...) and never finishes. My laptop with WinXP
has no trouble printing to that printer.

Can an Apple application print to an HP printer which is shared on a Windows
XP machine?
