My wife received an email in her Hotmail account from a friend and it had a
URL in it to a web site (the famous Christmas lights desplay to the tune of
TSO). She was unable to access the site through the link - kept getting an
error that the page was not found. I looked at it and didn't see any obvious
problem with the mail message.

I asked her to forward the message to my hotmail account and I was able to
connect to the site without a problem. I then checked the message source of
the message in her hotmail account and compared it to the forwarded message
in my account.

What I found was that the source in the original message has a plus sign
appended to the URL (ie. "website.com/page.html+"). The message that I
received did not have the plus sign (ie. "website.com/page.html").

My wife has W2K Pro SP4, while I am running XP with SP2. We were both using
the IE browser to read hotmail, but I'm not home so I do not have the IE
versions at the moment. Is there an IE setting that would cause this?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
mike
