Appearances - TextLabel unalterable

XP HOME on 3GB DDR 400, Athlon X2, GeForce 8600 GT

I've been working on making my system a dark theme via the appearance panel.
However, certain parts of the GUI seem unalterable: Text Label items (at
least, that is what they'd be reffered to as in VB). So, the background of a
window will be dark, and there will be a nice little section/container
present without the ability to change its text color from black, hence making
the dark background unusable. Is there a way around this? (ie. registry,
changing the msstyle file, etc)... see image:
