AppDomains and COM objects

Will creating a new appdomain for each COM component create memory isolation? I have a COM component written in VB that
has public variables in in a .bas module. I now have a service that is hosting that COM object and i am hoping to
enable reentracy via a new appdomain. BOL reads like it will work for .net objects but i couldn't tell if it would work
for COM objects.
