APIPA before DHCP

A few days ago I installed a program (W:ET, if anyone's familiar with it) and played around with it, literally. Midway through the game, it crashed and took out my net sets with them. Now whenever I log on to my local account my comp jumps straight to APIPA (i'm logging on wirelessly through a Linksys WUSB11 V:2.5 i think), and every time i try to reestablish a link with my router, I cannot get a valid DHCP assign (it takes a bit before it subs out to APIPA, but it occurs when it makes a direct link). This problem has occured before (thats where i got the assumption W:ET caused it before, more on that later) and i've tried uninstalling the culprit, hacking up the reg (no effect), swapping out connections, and going static. The only thing that fixed it was a complete reinstall! Can anyone save me from such agony?

PS: W:ET was on both my old system and my new system. I didn't get back on the net until 6 months after march of this year, about, and somewhere in there I installed W:ET from a the PCGamer disc, so a reboot from then probably put it into effect. I installed W:ET from the same disc on my new system.
