I have a computer with internet via AOL 9 and want to setup a wireless router
so I can allow another computer to have the internet too.

Does the second computer need AOL installed on it?

I would rather just use Internet explorer. What settings do I need to put in
Internet explorer to find the internet from the wireless router?

You will need to contact AOL tech support for help. AOL is notoriously
difficult when it comes to sharing computers and not all wireless
routers will work.

Get yourself a Netgear DG384G, they're easy to install and configure, and
AOL supports them. You'll only need AOL on your second PC, if you intend to
use the AOL client.

To set up Internet sharing have a look at this article;

That link is a trip! Try "I have a dial-up modem", and see where you get. I
haven't seen a discussion about 10Base2 vs 10BaseT for a long time.

Steve, is this part of your world? Doesn't it deserve an update?

Chuck, that's not my article, and I haven't been associated with
PracticallyNetworked since early 2002. They need a lot of updating.

Tim Higgins, who founded PracticallyNetworked and commissioned me to
write some articles, left before that. The last I heard, he was at
www.tomsnetworking.com .

Thanks, Steve. I was betting that was the case.

I think I will mark any PracticallyNetworked article links I make with (take PN
advice with a grain of salt).
