I have tried almost everything and read all the how to's, but I can't get
outlook to collect my email from AOL. Or rather, AOL seems to not respond or
I get an error. I followed the graphic instructions and used the imap 587,
but nothing seems to work.

Errors: contact administrator, outlook is off line or a host of others.
There must be an easy fix?

Appreciate any assistance. Thank you

onemortyme,
In MS Outlook> TOOLS> E-Mail Accts> Change or View Accts> Select AOL acct>
Change button> Check and make sure Server names, and UserName and password
information is correct.

Then Select the More Settings button, go to the Advance tab, and make sure
that the Port and Leave Message on Server settings are correct.
IMAP Settings for AOL:

Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com (also you can try imap.aim.com)
Port: 143
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.aol.com (also you can try smtp.aim.com)
Port: 587

POP3 Settings: Inbox Mail messages only.
**AOL does support POP access to their AOL/AIM accounts.**

Incoming Mail Server: pop.aol.com (also you can try pop.aim.com)
Port: 110
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.aol.com (also you can try smtp.aim.com)
Port: 587

I would also for POP Mail, set MS Outlook to Leave Messages on the server
for XX days, until you can move message in User created folders on the
webmail interface, if you want to have a copy of the messages there. Be
aware that messages sent from Outlook, will not appear in the Sent Items
folders in the AOL Mail's web interface.

If this doesn't correct your problem, you may need to delete the account
from MS Outlook, making sure that if you want IMAP access, then you need to
make sure that you set an IMAP in MS Outook.
