Add more memory, if your graphics card is sharing memory with main system
memory, get a graphics card with its own memory assuming it is compatible
with your setup. Turn off XP eye candy. In other words, turn off all XP
styles as follows:
Open Control Panel, go to the System tab, go to the Advanced tab, click
settings under Performance, select "Adjust for best performance" and click
apply and ok. The system will resemble previous 9x systems but it should
give you a performance boost.

When you ask a question such as this, it helps if you also post your system
specs, processor, speed, how much memory, what type of memory is the
graphics card sharing, if not, how much memory does it have what type of
applications are installed, etc.
