My DVD RW drive makes clicking noises when it trys to read a cd. Sometimes
it works, sometimes it doesn't. My computer is pretty new too!! What could
be the problem???

Can't say. What do your event logs say? What's different, when it works,
from when it doesn't work? Is your PC still under warranty? Have you tried
Sony support?

I am having the same problem with a Sony drive (not a Sony system though) and
just received an RMA from my vendor.

Depend on CD,s program on it, your DVD drive with read with different speed.
My computer has loaded over 15 program on it and about 5 program when it
installed the noise very loud as vaccum...

Does it do this with a commercial music CDs or software installation CDs
or only with burned CDs? If it is the latter, then it is an issue with
the burning of the CD or it was burned on another computer and the OS is
having difficulty reading it.
