Gurus,

Anyone out there have any good experience with a duplicate file finder
utility? I'm looking for one that comes with a personal recommendation.

http://www.brooksyounce.com/ Duplicate file finder 3.4
Not bad. Bit odd, but works.

I use an app called PowerDesk6 and amongst its other handy features is
a file finder that can also be used as a standalone. They have both a
free and a pay version, the freebie being well endowed.

It's actually a Windows Explorer replacement with with a LOT more things
added onto it like the File Finder and single or dual panes a la the old
windows versions. It'll do Finds by path/name or folder or drive.
Faster than Windows search, too. Start with the freebie version; I
suspect you'll like it.

ACDSee it's a graphic viewer but does about anything you need done
including finding duplicate files (not just graphic extensions, all
files).

I still use 3.1 http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=acdsee

Many free ones out there. But remember, keep in mind that many apps want
to see the same file in their own folder.

A real file manager like Total Commander will do that, as will
dozens of other more specific dupe finding programs. Google.

For image duplicates or near-duplicates (adjustable), the best I
have found is called Unique Filer. It is not new (there /is/ a
new Beta version to test) and looks a bit funky but it is miles
ahead in usability and effectiveness than anything else I've
tried. It ALSO does all other files, not just images.

BTW, you should be aware SOME files are in more than one place
for a very good reason.
