When my machine is supposed to be idle, it isn't. There's something called
realevent.exe running at about 1-2% of the CPU. Anyone know what it is?

Elliot,
It seems to be part of Real player - probably the pop-up advertising bit.

File under mostly harmless, but annoying.
Hope this helps,

i believe it is to do with real player. If you go to
start, run, type in msconfig, and have a look at the last
tab called "startup" you will find an entry for this.
you can uncheck it so it does not restart next time you
boot.
