Taskbar freewares:

1. A weather program that gives the temp as well as symbols (cloud,
lightning bolt, sun, etc).

2. A program that shows the RPM of your case fans.

3. A prog that shows the download/upload of your bandwidth.

Also, any Winamp add-on that would allow me to skip songs, etc from the
system tray.

Thanks.

I downloaded AIM (AOL's free instant messenger) and I hate it. It did
however drag along an interesting free, independent program with it called
WeatherBug . It puts an icon in the taskbar that shows the current
temperature. If you click the icon you can get a host of weather info,
several day forecast, alerts, pressure, maps, radar, etc.. I don't normally
like this kind of stuff but this seems really well done. If you like, there
is a button here that says you can email it to someone. Let me know.

For weather, try Weather Watcher from www.weatherwatcher.com

For bandwidth, Net Activity Diagram from http://www.metaproducts.com/
might help, but I'm not sure.

1. Not sure if this is what you looking for, but I use Weather Watcher:
http://www.singerscreations.com/

3. For the Winamp request take a look at:
http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=184

Does everything you want. Its skinnable so you can end up with a
sidebar like Longhorn is supposed to have.

You install unknown software that isn't part of the software you
downloaded?

<http://www.pchell.com/support/weatherbug.shtml>

"What is AWS WeatherBug?
WeatherBug is an software program powered by AWS WeatherNet that provides
weather updates (for American cities) from a small icon in the systray.
WeatherBug gives you current weather conditions, your local weather report,
and storm alerts, however the free version is ad-supported containing both
banner and pop-up ads. It also installs a My Search toolbar.

Is WeatherBug Spyware?

According to their website, Weatherbug is not spyware. It does not monitor,
collect data or 'spy' on its user base, however the program is considered
adware since the free version is ad-supported."

etc etc.

I think you will like Aquadock with a weather plugin.

The icons are gorgeous, and can be a large or small as you wish.

Get the weather plugin here:

SpeedFan. The rest are too weird or too complicated for my taste.

NetMeter. One of the coolest and most under-rated of all Freeware programs.

Sorry, but I can't help you with Winamp.
