This is just a copy of what I already sent out. Does
anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Recently my internet explorer seems to have messed up. I
used to be able to go to a website by typing in "www...."
Now, I got a site not found message, with suggestions
for similar sites, which are usually the site I wanted to
go to. It seems that the only way I can go to a site is
if I type in "http://" followed by the site. I've
compared my desktop's internet settings to my laptop's,
they're the same. I also tried reloading my OS. Can
anyone help?

Here is a trick for you, in the address box type in the name of where you want to go (such as "maxtor") press control + enter, the http://www.******.com will be added automatically.

In order to use the control-enter method, it's necessary to enable
"use inline autocomplete" in the tools\int.opt\advanced tab (apply and
okay your way out)..
