please read my message from 2/12. The only response I got was covered in my
plea for suggestions. How can I get the driver for 820C or another solution?
Thanks,

The HP 820C series consists of two models, the 820cxi and the 820cse. The
drivers for both are on the Windows XP distribution CD. I Don't know what
else I can say about that.

You could try removing the drivers again and using the method to install
using the USB connection directly to the computer-no hub.

For removing the present drivers, see:

The "I'm too desperate for words" solution is to get a different printer.

That is the problem, that HP sends U to Microsoft and MS says that XP comes
with it. However, I disconnected it, bought a parallel port cable(had
already discarded the original one) and connected to my extremely old and
slow IBM but it worked. It was urgent to print all that I need for now.

As for your second suggestion, I did that and worked once and never again
then I deleted the printer, the driver in the printer server, cleaned al
evidence of it in the regedit files and doing exactly what you suggested.
However, I just downloaded the link you suggested. Will read it carefully
and see what else I need to do.

thanks
