If the maker's site isn't much help then there may be a couple of "Generic"
things you could try. Numerous "ASUS" driver updates fix one thing and break another so I've landed up with various sets of drivers, a lot of experimentation, then stop and leave the darned things alone, warts and all. It is possible the LeadTek scenario might be similar. So, did it work when first installed with the supplied software? Does it mention whether you should use an installer package or let Windows find the hardware first? Some things I found you need to install the drivers before the card, which seems all screwed up to me but oh well. Did you try installing / upgrading the drivers in safe mode? Was Antivirus running when install / upgrade was done. Assuming you have the driver packages available you could try something like this:- You should use the windows software uninstall before removing the card if possible. Physically remove the device, restart, if drivers or anything appear in add/remove programs then uninstall them. Disable AV software or make sure you remember to turn it off after the next step. Shutdown again, if hardware goes in first then replace or relocate in another slot. If drivers go in first then restart and install them. It is important that if the maker states a method other than letting Windows find the device you follow the makers method. If this fails (and I suggest you try the latest package rather than the original first) then try again but ignore the makers instructions and let Windows do it. If still no good and the original package did operate correctly then go back to it. This will take time but don't mix methods, and try the same things in safe mode / normal mode. I think you can see what I'm getting at here, right? Paul,
I had similar problems and was finally able to get everything to work. I had to go into Add/Remove programs and unistall WinFast PVR. Then I went into Device Manager and unistalled the four Winfast listings under Sound, video and game controllers. Then on reboot I told Windows to cancel on the New Hardware and then installed everything from Leadtek. Then it worked. Hope this works for you. I think it's a great card but the installation process is a PITA. I dont trust windows drivers, for
things like tuner. As some drivers, from the windowsupdate site especially, screw things up! (ie: Nvidia drivers). The drivers work fine, for the TV tuner, its just the FM side that wont work (no drivers get installed for it). I did install the drivers before I installed the PVR program. And I turned the AV program off. I havent tried safe mode yet. I have a feeling the latest version of the PVR program has something different in it (for the FM tuner program), that the latest version of the drivers hasn't got. I'll try your way Ted. I'll delete the drivers and cancel on reboot. Are you using the latest version of the program and latest drivers Ted? Whatever u do, DON'T use the uninstall tool off the leadtek site. It'll delete 1/2 of device manager lol. Well it did here. It deleted the SMB controller/LAN/Modem/ USB/mouse/sound (since its USB), and the Wireless Network. I had to reboot a few times, to get these going again, and I had to reinstall some of the drivers from the CD again. The earlier version of the PVR program and the earlier drivers worked fine! It'sjust the latest version of the program and the drivers, that don't like each other! Thanx for the info! "Charlie Tame" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:%(E-Mail Removed)... I think you have it right, the drivers and software don't agree.
As for NVIDIA drivers from the update site I have found they are identical to the drivers supplied by NVIDIA, and the latest drivers from either site don't like my older GEForce II. I also have a game or two that insists my drivers are out of date and that the game won't function properly with them, but it works fine until I try the new drivers then things are broken ![]() Same games run fine under XP Pro but fail on W2003 (Dual boot, same hardware) and this is quite independent of the drivers in use. Just because the makers tell you later drivers "Should" be better doesn't mean that they are ![]() Charlie "Paul" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:do4pio$9b4$(E-Mail Removed)... >I dont trust windows drivers, for > things like tuner. > > As some drivers, from the windowsupdate site > especially, screw things up! Yup.
I downloaded the 010605 version of the PVR program, and the latest version of the drivers. And voila the TV and FM tuner work. So, yup, the latest version of the drivers are definitely the wrong version, for the latest version of the PVR program. (For the Deluxe). The latest drivers (for the Deluxe) are missing something, that the latest PVR program has got / is looking for. To test this, I installed the latest version PVR program over the one that works, and the FM was dead again. It came up with the previous error I posted. However, the latest version of the PVR (which is the same as the Expert, (which is in another PC here). and the latest version of the drivers, for the Expert do work. That error I posted earlier doesnt appear "Charlie Tame" <(E-Mail Removed)> wrote in message news:(E-Mail Removed)... I think you have it right, the drivers and software don't agree. Glad you got it working Paul. I was using the same versions as you and it
