I've seen nothing but complaints on this NG this week. Before I even start
to think about installing it, I'd like to hear that at least some people
were successful.

Seven installs and no issues beyond the Outlook Express compact
folder on close/switch identity problem. This NG is like an ER you
won't generally find "Works/No Issue" type postings here. As with
any major OS change having a proper backup or image significantly
lowers your risk when installing a Service Pack. From what info I've
read the biggest issue with SP3 is some problems with systems that
use an AMD processor. The possible combinations of hardware &
software make it impossible to have a Zero issue SP release. As
more and more users install it the list of known issues will become a
little clearer.

Mine was successful, but I had to go through this link as opposed to Windows
Update...still don't know why. WU didn't work but this one did...and a few
days later...still no problems.

Installation seemed okay on a test computer until reboot.

Upon reboot I get an error message related to wlanapi.dll.
Error message reads:
"AirGCFG.exe - Entry Point Not Found. The procedure entry point apsSearchInterface could not be
located in the dynamic link library wlanapi.dll"
This appears to be a problem with the new version of this dll installed by Microsoft SP3 over the
version installed by Dlink for my wireless NIC. (Several others reporting the same problem with
Dlink wireless NICs)

I get the same error message with every boot, but the wireless card connects and work.
I have written to Dlink and will post the answer as soon as it becomes available.

You didn't read closely. There are posts in this ng this week reporting
success. Most folks would not bother to report success. Generally, posts
in the ngs are about problems. After all the ngs are all about getting
help.

I have installed SP3 on about a dozen copies of XP without any issues.
There you have it.

Sure. That shouldn't be surprising. People without problems don't
often come to a newsgroup just to state that. It's those *with*
problems who come to look for solutions to them.

I've installed it on two computers here. No problems at all.
