Any Way to Scan & Replace File Names to Make Them Compatible wWith FrontPage?

I have a lot of image files on my hard disk, some of which I'd like to use
in a web site. However, since Windows XP Pro (and some prior versions of
Windows) permit use of extra-long file names that even contain spaces, I
took advantage of that feature and gave all of my image files fairly long,
(descriptive) file names consisting of not only of spaces but upper and
lower-case characters.

As you know, that isn't compatible with FrontPage. So, I wish there were
some application available that could scan all files in a directory and
rename them and/or change the file names to all lower-case characters.

If such an application exists, I would greatly appreciate your letting me
know about it.

Download IrFanview (do a google for the url) it's a free multi talented image program...you can batch name, optimize, and resize a zillion images all in one pass. Does a lot more too,,, VERY useful tool.

It's not just FP that has problems with such filenames, it's most servers
and browsers too.

Thanks for setting me straight on that, Murray! I realize that servers and
browsers impose the most severe limitations. I really appreciate your help!

You're welcome. The best and safest procedure when you are working on the
web is to only use letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores in your
filenames. Avoid spaces and any other punctuation. Avoid mixed case UNLESS
you have an easily remembered filenaming scheme.

Thanks, again, Murray! I appreciate the clarification on file naming
conventions. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Hi, Ronx!

I downloaded and installed the IrFan View Plug-Ins, but so far I haven't
been able to find Space Replacer and Case Changer addins. Are they
supposed to be included in the IrFan View download? If so, which menu
should I look to locate these features? Or should I look for the plug-ins
elsewhere?
