Any way to obtain details in disk defragmenter?

Is there any way to set disk defragmenter so I can see progress (percent
defragmented or amount remaining)? I was able to do that visually in all
previous editions. My favorite was actually many years ago with an earlier
edition of Norton. That version seems to have been incorporated in an early
Windows edition, but it was gradually reduced with each succeeding edition.
Win XP still retained a visual "map" of the process but lacked the detail of
earlier versions. Now, with Vista, all I get is the little spinning wheel
that shows it's working -- but absolutely nothing to indicate how much
progress has been made. Am I missing something?

Im am using Vista Home Premium.

Thanks,
MaryL

That's true.

If you want graphic, safer and much faster use defraggler from
http://www.defraggler.com/

It's free and it's from Piriform (all programs from this company get prizes
and are free).

Safer? Are you seriously claiming that Vista's in-built defragger is
dangerous?

That's the best description of Frank yet.

After all, Frank is just like a non house broken puppy. He barks, and
barks, poops and pees all over the place then cowers in fear if you
raise your voice and approach him with a rolled up newspaper to smack
on his backside. Then once you're a safe distance away he snarls, and
pees on himself. That's Frank, this newsgroup's very own mutt.
