I have a user whose machine is showing constant CPU utilization levels above
80%. We have terminated every service that will terminate, every startup
application, and stopped all applications on the desktop and in the system
bar. The CPU utilization is somewhere inside the system kernel, which I
assume means we either have a virus posing as a device driver, or a badly
written device driver, or bad hardware generating lots of interrupts, etc.
The problem is I don't find any way to interrogate within the system to find
the responsible component.
Is there any tool that will let me break down resource utilization of things
that run inside the kernel?
