Considering that he asked for personal knowledge, it's my guess that
he was hoping for something a bit more indepth than "Yes......they're
all spyware." Do you have any URLs to back this assertion up?

Do a search on the microsoft.public.win98.gen_discussion newsgroup and
microsoft.public.win98.internet. You'll find lots and lots of posts
concerning them (I don't browse the one's for other versions of Windows but
I'm willing to bet there's more of them on there aswell)..

I did a search on both of them, and the only references to Bazooka
were references to bazooka.ttf and someone comparing reformatting a
system over some minor issue to "pest control with a bazooka". As far
as "spy cleaner", many posts included the words "spy" and "cleaner",
but none matching the word "spycleaner" or phrase "spy cleaner".
Doing a search of all the microsoft.public.*, a search for the
words bazooka spyware only has one result--that it detects and removes
MediaLoad. I only found one reference for "spycleaner" (none for "spy
cleaner") and that article doesn't say anyting about it being spyware
either. Perhaps you could supply specific message IDs?

Everyone should be aware of CoolWebSearch, one of the nastiest browser
hijackers on the net. A URL? Try,
http://doxdesk.com/parasite/CoolWebSearch.html There's plenty of others.
To get rid of it use CoolWebShredder, from
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/

Well, the original post included a URL documenting CoolWebSearch
<http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html>, and I
already knew about that one. I was referring more to Bazooka and
Spy Cleaner, which were the other two apps mentioned in the post.

Yep, there's a link to that app at the above-mentioned link.

Yep, as I mentioned in my reply to flan, I knew that CoolWebSearch
was, plus the OP included that link underneath CoolWebSearch.

No problem...was just making sure that they weren't spyware in
disguise.

Wow...and I have to settle for not having my mind directly connected
to the internet at all!
