Seems quite odd, I can sort by other things but not category. Was this
changed in later editions> Any reason to upgrade to Outlook 2008 or
whatever

Outlook 200 is from the stone ages and doesn't support a lot of things the
new versions do... but sorting by categories works the same now as it did
then... you cant sort by categories because you can assign more than one
category to an item. Use group by categories instead.
