Just looking for someting to swing me either direction. I'm even thinking
about taking the plunge for a v160, but I doubt I can get the budget for
that, unless I have a great argument. At this time we do not need the
space.

DAT is for music and is never a good solutions for data backup, its to
simple. Never use it, never. You will have problems with a DAT drive becuse
the tape and the drive is to small to be trusted as a good solutions. The
best backup media is Tandbarg SLR tapes, you cant breake them. But drop a
DAT tape in the floor and the **** is not good anymore. I have replaced so
many bad DAT drives that i dont noe how many, but its a lot. I have NEVER
had any problems or replaced any Tandberg SLR drives. I dont think DLT
drives are good as SLR, but they are a lot better than DAT drives.

You would probably get more responses to a question of this type if you
didn't cross post it to so many unrelated groups. That one action is a
leading reason that many people will _ignore_ your post.

In the class of drives you are asking about, the public.windows.server.sbs
is a good match. You just haven't heard back from anyone here that is
speaking from experience. I suspect that hardware group is also a good.

On the issue of multi-posting...for people who don't subscribe to the same
groups you do, they can't reply back to them all. In addition, other people
may have answered your questions and we can't even see that if it doesn't
come back to our group for the same reason. So yes, basically...figure out
the group that's best suited and post there.

Both have similar capacity and performance but in my experience DLT is
a more robust and reliable format than DDS.

You might also want to consider Ultrium as 100/200GB drives are a
similar price to good quality DLT drives.
