Any new cpu's on the horizon...

For hardcore PC gamers and heavy PC application users, is there a new AMD or
Intel cpu on the horizon that is more promising than the current cpu's on the
market and therefore worth waiting for?

For a long while, it seems to me that Intel has been way behind in competition
against AMD. Is Intel slowly but surely fading away? Can it make a come-back
just like AMD did once with its revolutionary cpu design and new 64-bit PC
processors?

Even though AMD cpu's are superb to any Intel cpu's at current time, I like to
know if Intel cpu's possess any advantage, if any, over AMD cpu's that might
convince some consumers to choose Intel cpu's?

I don't know where you are getting your one sided info - both Intel and AMD
make good chips. Both have strengths and weaknesses. Neither is superior
in all arenas. Part of the issue is having the OS take advantage of their
strength.

Right now it looks like we are seeing a lull in Moore's law. The increase
in speed for the next 6 months and the past 12 has been dissappointing. A
new process and material will be needed to continue our speed evolution.
The gains in the next 6 months won't occur so much in the speed of the
processor but the functions of the PCI X cards such as dual video cards from
ATI and nVidia and the Audigy 3 sound card.
