Any Kodak RFS 3570 users still out there?

....If so I have some questions.

I am trying to use a recently acquired Kodak RFS 3570 with Vuescan pro
software and the Apple OS X operating system (currently OS X.II.viii)
I have the Adaptec SCSI board installed on a 2001 Apple G4
Quicksilver.

Because it is a SCSI connection before turning on the scanner I switch
the G4 off, switch the scanner on, and then restart the G4. Everything
seems fine until I launch Vuescan (v7.6.84 I believe) Vuescan opens
and then immediately quits. The RFS 3570 then starts making a bunch of
mechanical noises It sounds like something inside the scanner is
trying to move but a gear is slipping, the result is a rhythmic
thumping. I relaunch Vuescan and click the preview button. I get an
erro message about SCSI problems. I then switch the scanner off.

Any ideas?

Bad scanner (no loss if it is) maybe?

The reason I'd like to get the scanner to work is that I have hundreds
of 35mm & medium format images that need not particularly high res
scanning ( they are strictly for web use and client preview. and so I
like the idea of the short scan times from usingthe RFS 3570 as
compared to the scan times from other dedicated film scanners.

You might try the Belkin Firewire->SCSI adapter. The SCSI driver
on Mac OS X 10.x can be flakey.
