Are you talking the black seen when you print text or when you print
photos on photo paper. The ip3000 shouldn't be using black on photos
but rather mixing cyan magenta yellow to make black. A different black
tank won't help you there as far as i'm aware.

The OEM black from Canon is pretty good and one wouldn't be foolish
buying it. The price is reasonable and the quality excelent. The
stuff i've been buying from inksupply.com is OK, the bulk ink but the
drytime is longer.

$13.00ish at a local store typicaly. $33.99 for a 3 pack at costco.

The stuff i've been buying is $5.00 for 2oz and requires a refillable
tank.

OEM about 52cents/ml or 2.5c/page - not bad for an inkjet, cheaper than
*some* lasers
MIS[inksupply.com] is $5.00 for 2oz or about 59ml. Assume as well
that their refillable tank is another $5.00.
$10 = 17 cents/ml
$5 = 8 cents/ml

My experence base is with one product, and which i'm pleased with...
but the dry time is longer based on my casual observation. Other's
might be able to reccomend a pre-fil that better than what I use. And
there are cheaper kits out there.

*not used this product, only heard about it*

The compatible carts sold there are top quality. Or you can buy the bulk ink
and refill, which is very quick and simple to do.

Which ones? They carry NECTRON and ARROWJET/SKYHORSE
brands at very similar prices. Which ones are better?

The black is all much the same. If you read up on the web site, they'll
tell you what ink is in them. I use the bulk ink, so I can't say much about
the compatibles as far as the ink brand. As far as I can see, the main
difference is the tank itself. I would go with the Arrowjet, I think it's
easier to refill.
